An article in the New Scientist describes a study where surgeons played with a Wii for only a short time before doing simulated surgery. Wii players did better than nonplayers.
But is this really a training effect or is it just a warmup effect produced by engaging in a similar activity beforehand?

The report didn't mention whether their control group played game or not. It could even be an effect of higher arousal level of those who played game before surgeries.
I think it is possible that playing wii may improve your motor-related skills, however, playing wii an hour before a surgery does not sound like a training effect to me.
